Different Kinds of Mobility Scooters

Mobility scooters have become increasingly popular since their debut in the 1960’s. There have also been a number of technological advances in mobility scooter technology.

A mobility scooter is a type of personal movement device that allows people who can not easily walk to move around and retain their mobility. Modern mobility scooters utilize battery power and have a very impressive range. Some models can travel over 40 miles per charge and travel at speeds that are far greater than most people could run.

Travel scooters are one popular type of adult mobility scooter. A travel scooter can be easily transported in a trunk or on a plane. This is because the scooter can be taken apart into several pieces that are lightweight and easy to handle. The advantage of these types of scooters is that they can be easily transported and do not require that you outfit your vehicle with any sort of scooter lift or carrier. Since they are designed to be light weight, a travel scooter typically does not have many special features and has a range that is lower than a non-travel scooter. They are also not as well suited to rougher ground and uneven terrain.

If you decide to go with a non-travel scooter, then you will need to invest in some sort of carrier for you vehicle. This is of course only if you intend to use it away from the home. Non-travel scooters can also typically support more weight than a travel scooter. There are many kinds to choose from and one of the main considerations should be where you intend to use the device.

If you plan on using it indoors or in other areas where you might experience tight quarters, a 3-wheeled mobility scooter might be the best option. It has an excellent turning radius, but the weight is not evenly distributed between the front and the back. On a 4-wheeled scooter, however, the weight is much more evenly distributed. This improves balance and stability. It also means that a 4-wheeled scooter is the best choice for outdoors travel or travel over uneven ground.

There are many types of mobility scooters. They provide an excellent way to ensure that you or a loved one can always move without assistance.
