Important Scooter Safety Warning

If you use or own a Mobility Scooter manufactured by Days Healthcare, then you might be at risk for serious scooter failure. Specifically effected models are the Strider Maxi 3, Strider Maxi 4, and the Strider Midi 4 Plus mobility scooter.

These scooters produced by Days Healthcare, were found to have a very dangerous flaw in their battery design. This was first noticed in late 2006, and at that time 2 scooters had already spontaneously combusted. At the root of the problem was poor wiring and faulty battery terminals. Due to poor construction and cheap components, these scooters manufactured by Days Healthcare could be very dangerous. One rider, Neil Jordan, was thankfully alerted by a fellow shopper that the back of his scooter was aflame. Neil was able to dismount just before the entire scooter burst into flames.

This illustrates the importance of using a quality scooter that is manufactured by a reputable and reliable company. If you purchase a scooter made by Golden Technologies or Pride Mobility, you will be assured that no corners were cut and that they have been extensively tested before distribution.

If you are an owner of a Day Healthcare Mobility scooter, then you should visit the below sites to ensure that you are not using one of the effected models. This primarily effected models built in 2004 – 2006 and so many models were affected. Below are some useful links about these scooters.

Different Kinds of Mobility Scooters

Mobility scooters have become increasingly popular since their debut in the 1960’s. There have also been a number of technological advances in mobility scooter technology.

A mobility scooter is a type of personal movement device that allows people who can not easily walk to move around and retain their mobility. Modern mobility scooters utilize battery power and have a very impressive range. Some models can travel over 40 miles per charge and travel at speeds that are far greater than most people could run.

Travel scooters are one popular type of adult mobility scooter. A travel scooter can be easily transported in a trunk or on a plane. This is because the scooter can be taken apart into several pieces that are lightweight and easy to handle. The advantage of these types of scooters is that they can be easily transported and do not require that you outfit your vehicle with any sort of scooter lift or carrier. Since they are designed to be light weight, a travel scooter typically does not have many special features and has a range that is lower than a non-travel scooter. They are also not as well suited to rougher ground and uneven terrain.

If you decide to go with a non-travel scooter, then you will need to invest in some sort of carrier for you vehicle. This is of course only if you intend to use it away from the home. Non-travel scooters can also typically support more weight than a travel scooter. There are many kinds to choose from and one of the main considerations should be where you intend to use the device.

If you plan on using it indoors or in other areas where you might experience tight quarters, a 3-wheeled mobility scooter might be the best option. It has an excellent turning radius, but the weight is not evenly distributed between the front and the back. On a 4-wheeled scooter, however, the weight is much more evenly distributed. This improves balance and stability. It also means that a 4-wheeled scooter is the best choice for outdoors travel or travel over uneven ground.

There are many types of mobility scooters. They provide an excellent way to ensure that you or a loved one can always move without assistance.

There are many names for a mobility scooter. Some simply refer to them as electric scooters. They are also frequently called adult scooters or adult electric scooters. No matter what they are called, however, almost everyone agrees that they are great. This is because they allow people who would otherwise be greatly restricted in their movements to freely move around without assistance.

One of the most popular types of mobility scooter is the travel scooter. Travel scooters are designed for, yep you guessed it traveling. They can be completely broken down into several easy to manage pieces in only a few minute. The pieces can be easily handled by most people, with the heaviest piece usually around 30 pounds. When it comes time to put it back together, it only takes a matter of minutes. These devices can be placed in the trunk of a car and do not require that you purchase a scooter carrier for your vehicle.

Travel scooters have traditionally been 3-wheeled, but there are some 4-wheeled models available. A 3-wheeled scooter has excellent maneuverability and usually weighs less than a 4-wheeled scooter. This makes easier to handle and ideal for areas of close quarters. A 4-wheeled mobility scooter will not be as maneuverable, but because the weight is more evenly distributed, it tends to be much more stable. 4-wheeled mobility scooters are also better suited for outdoor use and rough terrain. The weight capacity of a 4-wheeled mobility scooter is often greater than a 3-wheeled mobility scooter as well.

If you need to be able to easily transport you mobility scooter then a travel scooter may be for you. They can be taken on most airplanes and trains, but it is a good idea to check with the company first to find out their policy. If you have difficulty walking then consider purchasing a travel scooter today.
